With so many new developments surrounding the Covid-19 virus and the country's reaction, it can feel overwhelming and a little scary to be a Realtor right now. After all, Realtors interact with multiple people throughout the day; between showings, open houses and networking events, you might be wondering what to do to keep yourself and others safe without compromising your business.
What is the Covid-19 Virus?
As of March 11, the World Health Organization has classified the Covid-19 virus (or Coronavirus) as a pandemic. Symptoms include shortness of breath, fever and cough. It has taken the world by storm, with whole countries on lockdown as they attempt to prevent the spread of infections.
How Can You Stay Safe?
Because the virus spreads mainly from person-to-person, the CDC is recommending social distancing. That means avoiding crowded areas, group gatherings, and maintaining your personal space (think about 6 feet). For more details, make sure to check the CDC's website
What Precautions Should Realtors Take?
First and foremost: don't panic! Consider reducing your exposure by hosting virtual open houses. Facebook live is a great tool for this.
Let your clients know if you are not comfortable driving them to showings and arrange for them to meet you at the homes.
Keep hand sanitizer in your vehicle and use it after meeting with clients or doing showings. If you take the proper precautions.
Consider this a good time to optimize your social media marketing and build your brand online.
